History

A small church with a second life.

Built in 1925 and later deconsecrated, Tiny Church now has a quieter job: a simple place to stay in one of the village's small landmarks.

Inside is one open studio with a kitchenette, private bathroom, warm floor and coffee from Kvörn.

Wild company

Aurora and reindeer.

Reindeer are found only in East Iceland. Around Stöðvarfjörður and the wider region, they are easier to spot from autumn through spring, when snow brings them closer to the coast; in summer they usually keep to the highlands and mountain hikes. On clear nights, look up for aurora.

Town

Around town.

Stöðvarfjörður is small in the useful way: walks, stones, coffee, galleries and artists within easy reach.

Jafnadalur & Einbúi

A valley walk toward Einbúi, the lone rock known as The Hermit. Keep going for the stone arch if the weather is in a generous mood.
